About Coach
I'm a former competitive gymnast with a lifelong love of movement, sports, and being part of a community. Community has always been an important part of my life, and I love being in spaces where I can connect with people and help create positive experiences.
My background in competitive gymnastics gave me a strong foundation in fitness and taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. Eventually, I found my way into group fitness, and I quickly discovered how much I love coaching and the energy that comes from being part of a class. When I’m not working or at the gym, I’m probably watching or playing sports. I’m a huge Toronto Blue Jays and Indianapolis Colts fan. Fun fact, my dog, Indy, was named after the Colts! I’m also a huge animal lover, a Halloween enthusiast, and a self-proclaimed reality TV addict.
Basically, I love anything that brings people together, makes me laugh, or gives me an excuse to try something new.
Turning Point
For most of my life, fitness was a part of my identity. As a competitive gymnast, I trained more than 20 hours a week and was constantly moving. I didn't have to think about exercise, nutrition, or my relationship with my body.
When I retired from gymnastics, my relationship with fitness and food changed. I was no longer training for hours every day, and I gained a significant amount of weight in a relatively short period of time. For the first time in my life, I didn't recognize the person I saw in the mirror, and I didn't know how to navigate my new body. I struggled to recognize myself and became increasingly self-conscious. I hated the way I looked, and I became consumed by how I thought other people saw me. I didn't know how to dress myself anymore. I avoided going places and doing things I used to enjoy. I turned down invitations, became more isolated, and started putting my life on hold because I didn't feel comfortable in my own skin.
One night, I remember having a severe panic attack. I was overwhelmed by how unhappy I had become and by how much my feelings about my body were controlling my life. In that moment, I realized that I couldn't keep living that way. I didn't want my body to determine where I went, what I wore, who I saw, or how much of my life I allowed myself to enjoy. The next morning, I decided to take control of my life again. I joined a gym, but what I found there was so much more than a place to work out. I found a community. I started moving my body again and learning how to fuel it in a way that felt intentional and sustainable. Most importantly, I began rebuilding my confidence and learning to appreciate my body for what it could do. Over time, I rebuilt my confidence, my self-esteem, and my sense of community. That experience completely changed the way I look at fitness.
Today, I know firsthand that sometimes the hardest part isn't the workout, but rather taking that first step through the door. I want to be the person who makes that step feel a little less intimidating for someone else.
Motivation & Passion
I genuinely love coaching. Even at the end of a long workday, teaching a class brings me so much joy. I love the energy of a room, celebrating someone's progress, encouraging someone through a tough moment, and sparking a little bit of joy in people's lives.
I'm naturally enthusiastic and energetic, and I love sharing my passion for movement with others. I also want my classes to be a place where people feel comfortable being exactly where they are in their fitness journey. You don't have to be the strongest, fastest, or most experienced person in the room to belong there. If I can help someone walk out of class feeling stronger, more confident, more energized, or simply a little happier than when they walked in, then I've done what I came there to do.
