Massage therapists are one of the only health professionals required to collect and remit taxes. The Canadian Massage Therapy Alliance (CMTA) needs to represent a larger number of RMT’s across Canada in order to be exempt from taxes.
Currently several provinces have their own training and provincial licensing body. Schooling can be anywhere between months to years to become licensed and examinations are all different depending on each province.
